The Functional Mind II

ANN 2

A cartography of the human psyche

“We are not smarter because we have more neurons, we have more neurons because we are smarter.”– el Loco Gringo

OK children, we now get down to the real nitty gritty. How does the mind really work? We will disregard the physical aspects and concentrate only on the logical aspects of operation. Time to quit talking baby talk and psycho babble.

The protohuman brain consists of only a few logical determinations. Sensory I/O, Interface, the ANN and it’s associated defense mechanisms. Auxiliary support and control mechanisms are outside the our direct purview. The sensory I/O consists of the sight, sound, smell, proprioceptor input, (pain, location, heat, cold etc). The interface is that part of the mind which transforms input from the sensory I/O into a form usable by the defense mechanisms. (turns photons into a spectrum of intensity and color, turns vibrations in the air into sound. The output of the sensory I/O is not reality but a representation of reality. The ANN is the Allocated Neural Network, dedicated to the maintenance and modification of the defense mechanisms, and excluding that part of the mind devoted to autonomic responses. Estimate 200-300 cc of brain mass. This is the I, the me/not me, the seat of consciousness. It thinks real time. Time is the missing element in the understanding of the mind, that element ignored by the various ‘ists. Getting the timing right is crucial to the survival of this critter. It takes time to think. If the timing is too short the defense mechanism will be relatively unsophisticated. If too long, it will be spending too much time. If Charlie Chimp is standing around the Savannah with his head up his butt, thinking about doing the ugly bump with Poly Protohuman, and his response to a threat is not fast enough, or sophisticated enough, he won’t be doing Poly tonight and we won’t have a Stanford Dept of Psychology for el Loco Gringo to make fun of., and that would make him very sad. So an optimal time evolved. about 1/2 second. Using his newly evolved ability to use tools and implements, Charlie Chimp (Alpha Male) could now beat the subservient males about the head and shoulders with a stick guaranteeing his primacy in the poon tang receiving department and reinforcing the taboo.

There is a time imposed limit on the number of neurons that this type of mind can utilize.

Sometime between 50,000 and 2,900,000 years ago the greatest evolutionary leap occurred since the first few neurons clumped together. Wet ware. This miracle allowed the thinking to be done off line and the resultant changes implemented. Indexing allowed for the possibility of not accessing the data directly, but indirectly. ie with the reprogram able wet ware it is necessary only to know the location of the data, not the data itself. This mind is capable of handling many more neurons without compromising the timing constraints.

People think backwards. We are not super-chimps. it’s a whole new ball game.

Introducing the unANN, the unAllocated Neural Network, a free form mass of neurons (2000cc) that can be programmed for specific functions and used as a storage area that can be accessed via indexing by the ANN. It is now possible for the defense mechanisms to become much more sophisticated. They are so much more sophisticated that a new word is needed. Algorithm.

Duality

Working the logic both ways

The basic premise (my truth) is that we have two cognitive minds which give us two perspectives on the world. We project these perspectives onto whatever we perceive and see giving us the illusion that the world is of a dual nature. These two perspectives are not two sides of the same coin but the same side of the same coin, the other side being reality. Yin IS the right mind’s perspective. Yang IS the left minds perspective.

Consider Chinese medicine in which the object is to balance the Qi to the Yin and the Yang. Another aspect of the difference between Oriental and Western medicine can be described as Oriental treats the Yang and Western treats the Yin. Everything in the universe can be described in terms of Yin or Yang. This is one of the underlying philosophies of Oriental Medicine. Yin is the feminine qualities in the universe, Yang is the masculine qualities.

Consider sight, this right side of this graphic illustrates what is happening in the right mind, (perception) an ever present “now”. The left side illustrates what is happening in the left mind, an interpretation which discards the “now” and adds time and color so as to better “make sense of” motion. Neither of these perspectives is reality but only a perception and interpretation of reality.

Consider society. In western society we have the hipostatized belief in the state and it’s institutions, ignoring the self as constitute part of the whole. In eastern society there is a hipostatized belief in the self, ignoring the whole. It would seem that a definition of civilization would be the ability of the hyper-males to shut down one of the minds, creating a permanent “slave” class. (idiots). In the west is the aristotelean brain fart, in the east the taoist brain fart. Acculturation IS indocrination. Now it is education in earlier times it was religion.

Consider world view, the lion and the lamb exist within all of us, and one or the other must be shut down by the hyper-males to maintain control, and keep primacy in the banana and poon-tang receiving departments. Either top down or bottom up thinking must be shut down, so as to imprint a cultural view in which a hipostatized belief system can replace one or the other mind’s interpretation of reality. While we are part of the state, the state is the summation of us, maintaining it’s illusory reality.

Consider calculus. Integral calculus IS bottom up thinking as applied to euclidean geometry. Differential calculus IS top down thinking as applied to euclidean geometry. BUT euclidean geometry ain’t real, but only an interpretation of a perception of reality which also ain’t real. This is why Milo wolf was able to come to a better understanding of the nature of the universe, he used algebra, eschewing calculus. Or consider Ted Lumley’s question “is space making electrons or are electrons making space” YES!!! Space IS the summation of electrons. An interesting possibility is vector calculus. hyperphysics Wild Joyride

This holds true for any view of any problem. We project this dual view of reality onto reality, whereas, in fact, no duality exists. The Aristotelian brain fart. brain-fart

The point of this rambling incoherent dissertation is that the logic must be worked both ways. Consider the image, the ocean causes the waves, BUT the waves constitute the ocean. The waves and the ocean are only two perspectives of the sea, BOTH entirely inside the skull. Without the waves, the ocean cannot exist. Without the ocean the waves cannot exist. non-dualism

So I call reality (or any system) the “big hoochie koochie” composed of “little hoochie koochies”. The logic must be worked both ways.

Dog Bark

The dog that doesn’t bark

This is something you might be interested in. an exerpt. Still trying to figure you out. (my neurons are hungry and must be fed.)

>Actually, this is true because the Indians are using categorization itself (like George Lakoff’s *Women, Fire, and Dangerous Things* as a lexical category in Dyrbal), while metaphor is a different kind of categorizing used extensively — some might say nearly exclusively — in Western European and other languages, and which they like to fancy is universal. While all of us have been subtly conditioned/brainwashed/socialized by our European language/culture complex (Imprinted) to believe in the “things” of reality as being more real than the invisible connections between them, valuing the dancers over the dancing, it’s a highly important antidote and counterbalance to know that Native American and other indigenous peoples value the dancing over the dancers, believe that processes and interrelationships are more real than the ‘things’ that grow out of them — that the physical is an epiphenomenon of the non-physical, and that cyclical timing is more real than linear time. We need both descriptions for a complete picture of how reality works for everyone, as well how language works for everyone, on this planet.< Dan Moonhawk Alford.

AHA! notice the bold, this is how you think. concepts instead of symbols serial/parallel instead of binary/boolean. He thinks in the top down/bottom up method typical of western civilization however. (he doesn’t have the amerind imprinting, [if valid, i’ve only got a database of one.]) He’s a linguist so he might have much to say in re communication.

walt

Yeah, I thought you might resonate with moonhawk. If he doesn’t want to restart the forum you can. Get permission to use his emails.

i was going to suggest an ‘epilogue’ instead of going back to the beginning and telling the reader where i was going to end up. sherlock holmes does many strange things in the course of his inquiry that don’t make sense until the viewer gets to see the ‘missing connections’, as in the epilogue where the detective brings everyone together and then reveals ‘who the culprit is’.

there would be no point in sherlock stating his hypothesis upfront. he would do better to invent some inquiry that would be ‘telling’ so as to validate his hypothesis without ever stating it, then each of the anecdotes that support the still unseen hypothesis build support for it, … support that would nto be there if the participants had not curiously observed these apparent ‘diversions’.

Well, there you go big guy. There’s your beginning. (a prelogue) A prologue would address DrB’s concerns and maintain the integrity of your thought process. In the final anaylsis we are all ignorant, only the wise admit it. There is no TRUTH, there is only truth. In reality, Dunno. But we can get less dunno if we admit it. We can sneak up on it. Orientals think occidentals think backwards. IE start with the conclusion and work our way back to the question. I agree. Note I was just passing on DrB’s comment. I use learn as a transitive verb, as in “I’m going to learn you something.” I present data and evidence, say what I think about it and invite criticism. It is this lack of communication in education that imprints the Aristotelian brain fart during the “critical stage” of children’s education.

“It makes sense to me…….does it to you?”

Which is what SH is doing. By comparing “patterns” we can see “ that curious incident in the night” the dog that didn’t bark (silver flash) something that should be there but isn’t. This “curious incident in the night” is in EVERYTHING in western civilization.

Gregory (Scotland Yard detective): “Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?”
Holmes: “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.”
Gregory: “The dog did nothing in the night-time.”
Holmes: “That was the curious incident.”

By pointing out the disjunct in the pattern, the answer “snapped” into place. That’s actually where I got the word SNAP, a person with SNAP (a Nexialist) can correlate many seemingly unrelated patterns to discern an overall rule. (shortcut) Then this “odd” pattern can be examined to find out why. THIS is what is missing in western civilization. The lack of SNAP IS the dog that didn’t bark. Something that should be there but isn’t . This is why people are dumb. THIS is the hurdle you must overcome in communication.

The algorithms (outputs) of the left mind and the right mind are compared, and if they disagree the “Does Not Compare” detector will (should) go off. This is what is not happening. This is the dog that doesn’t bark. This is the curious incident in the night. This lack of “does not compute” defines an idiot. The wires to this alarm have been cut by education.

Here’s one of my alarms> The man who isn’t there

Somebody’s nibbling on my site again, probably from SAND. (I just sent them something) I notice an odd pattern. Most people click through, and occasionally someone will read 20 or 30 pages. A few have spidered my site. As people who “go off the reservation” are stigmatized, anonymity is a problem. Maybe talk to Mr. Geoff about a proxy for gentlemen.

A functional model of a normal mind

The purpose of this paper is to propose a working model of the mind that accommodates both top down thinking (scientific method) and bottom up thinking (yoga) There will be no citations or references, this model being based entirely upon empirical reasoning and observation.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a working model of the mind that accommodates both top down thinking (scientific method) and bottom up thinking (yoga) There will be no citations or references, this model being based entirely upon empirical reasoning and observation.

Man has a unique brain, we have two cognitive minds, independent yet interconnected, and synchronous in nature.

The left mind uses top down thinking in a binary network. IE true/false. This is the Aristotelian view of the world we are all familiar with. This is what distinguishes us from animals. It interprets the input of the right mind into terms that can be quantified and made more useful. (sound, time, color etc.) It is the “individuation”. It is dominant. It operates in the time domain.

The right mind uses bottom up thinking in a weighted Boolean network. Possible results can be true/false/both/neither modulated by aggregate or accumulate input. This is the way an animal thinks. There is only now. This is the “connectedness”. This is the source of insight, creativity, “thinking outside the box”. It is sub-dominant. It operates in the frequency domain.

Monitoring and regulating the synchronicity is the ANN (allocated neural network), wetware dedicated to comparing the results of the calculations performed by the left and right minds and flagging discrepancies by setting trigger points on the algorithms, a decision tree on each mind. This algorithm is what a psychologist would call a personality.

Thus we have 3 ways of dealing with the world, dominant (left mind, skeptical) sub-dominate (right mind, receptive) and combined (“we’ll see”). This is no more complicated than putting on your doctor hat when you go to work, your wife/husband hat when at home, and your “we’ll see” hat in public.

The remainder of the brain is the unANN dedicated to memory, dreaming, collating etc. Yoga (see footnote 1) is a framework that is useful for accessing this area. Rather like a neuron trellis. It can bypass the constraints imposed by the left mind to directly access all experience, the universe, as perceived by the individual. This is nirvana.

Any thinking about the mind must start with the neuron. Simply put, the brain is a self programming amorphous mass of neurons. It is in the nature of the neuron to seek out, connect and communicate. Thus each mind is unique, as indeterminate as it is possible to get.

Psychologists are trapped into trying to describe an indeterminate problem with logic suitable only for a determinate problem.

The mind is elegant in it’s simplicity, incomprehensible in it’s scale, and glorious in it’s implementation.” el Loco Gringo

I use the term yoga as a generic term for various meditative techniques used to access the right hemisphere directly.

CT/RT Survival value

RT/CT

Survival Value

This may come as a shock, but I am beginning to think that I may have been wrong. If true, this will be a first. I had made the comment “I don’t see the survival value in dumb”. But there may have been at one time in our evolution. Think of Ardi (creationists worst nightmare, we didn’t evolve from chimps, chimps evolved from us) in the paleolithic conscious constructionist thinking (CT) would have a definite negative survival value. Ergo selection (or de-selection if you prefer) would have favored restricting constructionist thinking to the un-conscious, ie dreaming. This is no longer the case, however.

Consider;
CT requires the ability to hold several seemingly disparate concepts in the mind simultaneously. Not to be confused with the Orwellian “double think” in which several actually disparate and mutually exclusive concepts can be held in the mind comfortably. For instance, accepting the data presented in ratbrain-2 and and the tenets of psychology simultaneously strikes me as insane. One of them is obviously WRONG, For instance; I worked with a geophysical company that was manned by fundamentalists. They “knew” the earth was created 4,000 years ago. That was a “truth”. At the same time their job consisted of classifying rotifers to properly determine how many millions of years ago a geological structure was formed. That was also a “truth”. When queried they responded “I couldn’t understand secular humanism” (They’re right on that.) Think of CT as parallel processing. Hold that thought.
Reductionist Thinking limits the answer to what is actually “the best answer to date” as determined by CT, it dictates a single answer or conclusion for rapid response. It is not THE truth, but only A truth. One of many. Think of RT as serial processing. Hold that thought.
I am aware of only a handful of people who are capable of “switch hitting” IE volitionally able to go from RT to CT. Hold that thought.
CT is described as an “enhanced state” of consciousness. I don’t see it that way, it’s only different from RT. Hold that thought.
Many meditative techniques claim to enable one to enter this enhanced state, probably true, what they describe is what I experience. A sense of being one with the universe, (as perceived by me) a connectedness with my fellow man, a wholeness. Hold that thought.
One difference between RT and CT is that with RT you may “know” the answer but with CT you “understand” the question. BIG difference. Hold that thought.
As soon as my mind determines that the RT “truth” is bullshit it switches to CT (if I’m interested) else I just change the subject or inform them they are an idiot. Hold that thought.
I am aware of my mind, In the sense I am aware of any part of my body. I understand this is unusual. Hold that thought.

Consider the video on Jill Taylor “A stroke of insight”. She was a neuroscientist who was forcibly dumped into CT (right hemisphere) by a stroke which disabled much of her left hemisphere. (her mind went to “plan B”). She eloquently and effusively describes her experience, one result of which was an “explosion” of creativity. Consider, she was a person who had studied the workings of the mind for 30 years AND WAS NOT EVEN AWARE THAT THAT LEVEL OF CONSCIOUSNESS EXISTED. WOW! She “knew” the answer before, she “understands” the question now. (you’ve got to ask the right question if you expect a reasonable answer). She is now a “switch hitter”, she can step into either mode of thought. She describes the experience as “overpowering”. It’s not, she’s just never been there before. It’s just CT thinking, asking the right question.

And where was I wrong? Dumb has an inherited component.

Ponder?

Why would you want to ponder anything? Unless there are time constraints, of course. It’s a waste of your awake time. Let the ANN handle it, that’s what its for. Your awake time is better spent watching out for lions and looking under rocks for grubs to eat. Occasionally a question will arise, that’s the ANN saying it is missing some data. NOW you do the research and allow the ANN to get back to pondering. When finished you will not only know the answer, you will understand it. The mind is POWERFUL if you don’t cripple it.

If the question is from the left hemisphere it will be in verbal form, if from the right in visual form. For instance, the image surfaced of you drawing squigglies with your left hand. The right hemisphere of the ANN wanted to know if you were left handed. I asked, the image went away.

Almost everything I am saying requires constructionist thinking. Do not try to understand or organize it as you are reading, consider it data input only. The ANN will sort it out in a manner that it can understand. AND it can do it in the background. The left hemisphere will soon get bored trying to make sense of what it considers drivel and will let the right hemisphere take over. The mere act of inputing data with the understanding that it will come up later, gets it past the doorman. It becomes relevant to interfacing with the world and can be collated. Once it is communicated and the response received, it becomes “set”.

This is the beauty of bottom up thinking, it works off-line.

Notice the eyes on the image above. I bet if the pupils were shifted to (her) right she would appear sinister (scheming). See “Left hand of ANN” and consider the implications. Left handed people are under a considerable disadvantage in our society.

Neuronology

“Go forth and multiply”

Aha! I see what the problem is. The “mental operator” is the Fourier Transform as it applies to how we see the world. The minds operate on at least 3 levels, probably more. one is how we see the world. (axion level) IE In the right mind we see the world in the frequency domain, this is the rotating vectors. The left mind interprets this in the time domain throws away a dimension BUT adds interpretations of the rotating vectors as color, sound and time. This has nothing to do with idiots. Another level is how we think about the world (dendrite level). The right mind muses with a boolean network with possible outputs of A or B or both or neither, It is a parallel level that requires the holding of several concepts at one time. This is where the idiots and non-idiots comes in. This is the part that is hijacked by imprinting by religion, education etc. The left mind uses a binary network with an A or B output. It is a serial network that only allows one truth. Evaluations are performed by each mind using two different logic trees and the results compared. (Is this single conclusion (left mind) consistent with with my previous experience?) The third level is how we feel about things, ie how much intensity should we attach to the logical conclusions It is an aggregate and accumulate process. IE the last time I bonked polly protohuman, how many times did the alpha male hit me and how hard. (endoplasmic reticulator). If that’s not bad enough, a chaotic pattern is synthesized by the firing of the neurons by a process similar to conway’s game of life, and more accurately cellular automata. This is the patterns they see on the MRI scans and provides the means of storing data. (holography, recursion, etc. whatever you want to call it, the words don’t exist) This is a link to a basic explanation of the Fourier process which is the part of all this gibberish you should be interested in.
https://ellocogringo.wordpress.com/the-x-files/drb-31/ I haven’t posted this yet because I haven’t edited it. Museing

“Spontaneity is the right mind tossing out a suggestion, it is up to the left mind to determine it’s practicality. “ – el Loco Gringo

Our mind only processes data as it relates to real life experience. In speaking with another person about any topic, it then becomes part of our real life experience and will be processed. Whereas before, my real life experience was trying to understand why people reject logic and facts, now my real life experience is the workings of the mind. It is being processed. My understanding this requires that I acquire a better visualization method. “make it so” . I am starting to see the mind in visual symbols, almost impossible to put into words. See if you can put this into words. Picture the unANN as an amorphous (un-ordered) liquid (sic) the ANN “poofs” it causing ripples (in 4 dimensions)

BTW Are you aware there is a school of philosophy which postulates that a concept for which there is no word is nonsense in and of itself, and defines the person as insane? WOW!!! and they think I’m crazy

Musing

Musing – Contemplation; meditation. – Free Dictionary

Muse – Absorbed in one’s thoughts

Muse – (n) a seer

Muse – Greek Mythology Any of the nine daughters of Mnemosyne and Zeus, each of whom presided over a different art or science.

Muse>Domain>Emblem

Calliope>Epic poetry>Writing tablet

Clio>History>Scrolls

Erato>Lyric poetry> Cithara

Euterpe>Music>Aulos

Melpomene>Tragedy>Tragic mask

Polyhymnia>Choral>poetry Veil

Terpsichore>Dance>Lyre

Thalia>Comedy>Comic mask

Urania>Astrology>Globe and compass

Delphic oracle, the most important oracle in the classical Greek world, The oracle consulted with the muses to answer questions of importance.

I am going to use the word musing for what is happening in the right hemisphere, thinking isn’t really appropriate. Do you notice the close correlation between what the muses did and what we think we know of the right hemisphere? (taking into account the culture differences)

I don’t think the muses were myth in the strictest sense of the word. And there really were oracles. I posit that the muses were a mental framework (similar to the ANN) that the oracles used to do bottom up thinking.

Posit – to lay down or assume as a fact or principle

If true, I am the Maylene Oracle.

When I get curious about something, the answers start coming. I may be full of shit, but it sets the algorithms, (top down thinking) for better or worse, with the best answer to date.

As far as the right hemisphere is concerned, the point of all this is that there is no point. There is no goal, no conclusion, no target, no “scientific method”. When I get curious about something my right hemisphere starts “free associating” with the contents. It doesn’t assume anything. And there’s a lot there. The entire universe (As I have perceived it) Every thing I have seen, experienced, felt, thought, heard is there. All knowledge that I have ever acquired is there. This is what is not working in most peoples minds. This is the insight, the epiphany, the bullshit detector. This is the way the mind is supposed to work. And it has been crippled. The wires have been cut to the light bulb. And the muses are dismissed as myth. This cutting causes the beast, the hollow man, the abyss, the superficial man, the p-zombie or whatever term you wish to use. A cultural lobotomy. What would society be like with a thousand da Vincis, a million, a billion, 6 billion? Maybe there will be a 100th monkey happening.

Lupus Logic Fail

logic fail

“Top down thinking is a process of elimination, bottom up thinking is a process of aggregation” – el Loco Gringo

People think backwards.

How anyone could think it possible to discover new concepts using top down thinking baffles me. It is a logic flaw to start from a conclusion and work your way back to the question. How can people think that this is creativity? Top down thinking concentrates on what it ain’t, not what it is. This is why I don’t think of myself as smart, I think of other people as dumb. I was just listening to someone babble on about research he is doing on lupus. According to “experts” lupus can only be contracted by people with 2 X chromosomes, IE women. Why then do men get lupus? His thought process is limited by having a goal IE lupus as a woman’s disease. NO!!! lupus is a condition. The concept of lupus as a disease is bullshit. Let me explain. If you’re going to use top down thinking, at least apply it properly, in a process of elimination.

90% of lupus victims are women. (Not gender related)

60% of lupus victims have the Epson-Barr virus (Epson-Barr doesn’t cause it)

30% of lupus victims have DNA de-methylation (Nope, that’s not it either)

In the best of circumstances you have at least two separate causes

Saying that 90% of lupus victims are women is like a woman being 90% pregnant. NOPE! She is or she ain’t. It’s like the dead cat paradox. You’ve got to open the box and look. Whether the cat is dead or not is not dependent on what I think. It is, or it ain’t, Period, QED, end of story. If I don’t know it’s because I didn’t open the box. And you can’t open the box with with top down thinking. Once you open the box you can say “Yup, the cat’s dead” (or not) then you can use your top down thinking and say “The cat’s dead”. Saying the cat is maybe dead (50%) is a non-starter to me.

What does this mean? It means they are clueless. The concept of lupus is bullshit. It is a word only, made up by pseudo-intellectuals so that they can fool themselves into thinking they know what is happening. It is in the same class as consumption, which basically meant “got sick and died” It did not occur to them that there are a lot of reasons people “got sick and died”. If you want to find out what is happening you start with an individual. She’s got abnormalities a+b+c and has symptoms x+y+z. By cross-correlating abnormalities and symptoms you will reach a point where you know that abnormalities a+c for instance, ALWAYS causes symptoms y+z. NOW you give it a name. Now you can call it a disease. Grumpits, for instance. But lets say that grumpits is only responsible for 20% of the people who exibited symptoms of the now discredited lupus. Well, you’ve got another disease, that once you build up the data you can name. To assume that common symptoms have a common cause is bizarre. When, and if, they do figure out what is going on, it will be in spite of not because of top down thinking. Once you find out THEN you can use top down thinking. There is a term used in computers GIGO, Garbage In, Garbage out. The concept of lupus being a disease is garbage.

ABF-2

rewind to here

<For all Greek philosophers, and notably for the greatest – Plato and Aristotle>

How very odd that you would class these two as in the same ballpark of greatness. For myself I would class somerville head and shoulders above aristotle on a par with plato.

Funny how we put greeks on a pedestial. We say “the greeks thought this” thinking it was urban wisdom. No it wasn’t. Think half a dozen guys having a barbeque in the back yard. The greek on the street was just as stupid as today. These were the Greek Geeks. Mythology

Plato was an incredibly lucid thinker in terms of man’s place in the universe, with his mobile of mythos, logos and ether. really quite impressive when you consider he was bucking societal norms and working with earth, wind, fire and water.

Aristotle on the other hand was an idiot, incapable of understanding what Plato was getting at. dismissing mythos as metaphysical bullshit and going with what was easy, not what was true.
There is a HUGE difference between what the two are saying.

Arisotele think (ABF) gained philosophical ascendency and has screwed up western thinking since, with rare exceptions, summerville (astronomy), eddington (science) and thomas aquinas (theology) come to mind. I suspect that if eddington and aquinas came face to face they would agree that there is no difference between the universe and the divine. I’d like to see mary somerville chime in on that.

http://www.agnesscott.edu/lriddle/women/somer.htm

Mary, you see, could “perceive what others do not perceive”. exactly, she wasn’t an idiot.

As we fast forward in western civilization, we find that science and the church worked hand in glove, to promote a loving, harmonious world by burning the occasional heretic at the stake or shoving a sharpened stake up the odd infidel’s ass. with the final split science and religion became mortal enemies. Western civilization cannot see that not only are science and theology not at odds, but are, in fact the same thing looked at through two different perspectives.

And to you, Mr Ted, mythos is your inclusional world view. But you knew that, didn’t you?

The ABF has imprisioned us in a bottle which somehow we must reach outside of to pull the cork of null-a.

Please note i am using idiot in the clinical sense.

i despair

I’ll use the mobile to try to explain what I’m talking about. I’ll use the triquerta to represent reality. You may call it GOD, cosmic standing wave, space-time continuum, Tao, great mysterious. Doesn’t matter, it’s all the same thing. This is the invariable (to us) in the equation Left Mind + Right Mind <=> Reality. IE reality does not depend on what we think of it or her or him or them or something for which we have no pronouns. All we can do is perceive it and react. (et al). Read <=> as perceive.

So, we be perceiving. Below is the basic mobile. White pendant represents yin, or feminine god, or mother earth, or constructionist, or bottom up whatever. The black pendant represents yang, or masculine god, or top down, or reductionist, or top down whatever. It doesn’t matter it’s all the same thing. The blue, of course represents reality, whatever you choose to call it. None of tthis matters, these are only words describing an identical concept, and the word is not the concept. The hindu world view has no BF’s that I have seen yet.

I’ll plug some values into the oriental world view. Tao represents reality, yin and yang are inside the skull.

In this mobile the yin and the yang are looking at tao. Below is the TBF the Taoist Brain Fart, in which the output of the right mind is imprinted on the left mind and is mistaken for reality. Cannot perceive reality (<X>)Now for the normal western mind, this is the way the mind is supposed to work. The ANN compares the outputs of the left mind and the right mind for inconsistencies.

Now for the ABF The Aristotelean (athiest) brain fart. In this case the output of the left mind has been imprinted on the right mind and is mistaken for reality. Now to the most divisive, the spiritual worldview. This is a normal western mind looking through the spiritual tunnel. This is a normal mind. In the left mind is religion, in the right mind is god, our perception of GOD.

Now we get down to the real nitty gritty. The RBF (religious brain fart. wherein religion is imprinted on the right mind. In practical terms, what this means is that if you have the RGF you cannot experience GOD directly, or even god, but only a facsimile of god.I’ll finish up with the Amerind world view, I am not aware of an IBF I have only a database of one. Left is Father Sky Right is Mother Earth

So, don’t you wonder what you’re praying to? Is it the god inside the skull, the GOD outside the skull or more likely religion. Hmm!

Systems

I’ll try another approach. Keeping in mind that what we see is not what we perceive. What we perceive are systems, what we see is an interpretation of what we see. IE the “real” world is not composed of objects, but systems.
Systems share common characteristics, including:
Systems have structure, defined by parts and their composition;
Systems have behavior, which involves inputs, processing and outputs of material, energy or information;
Systems have interconnectivity: the various parts of a system have functional as well as structural relationships between each other. IE Systems are self organizing
Yet most people assume that what they see is what they perceive.
Also keep in mind that people think backwards, IE The see the movement of the tree leaves and assume that to be the cause of wind. They confuse cause and effect. (we evolved to be slaves)
Starting at the bottom, we’ll look at the fabric of the universe. Einstein assumed it to consist of 3 dimensions plus the space/time continuum. But time is not real, it is an interpretation of vectored movement. (direction + amplitude) In the sense that a line is the shadow of a square, a square is the shadow of a cube and a cube is the shadow of a dodecahedron. We can’t see a line but we can perceive it. We can see and perceive a square and a cube. We cannot see or perceive a dodecahedron. So the fabric of the universe consists of 3 dimensions and the ether, as described by Plato, or the 3 dimensions plus a fourth as described by Lisi. (It’s the same thing)
Next up is the atomic level, The electron, proton and neuron are actually shadows of vibrations in the fourth dimension, Fractals are shadows of these vibrations and provide the structure of the universe. (you/re probably wondering right now about what this has to do with PTSD but it’s relevant)
Next up is the neuron, which, in accordance with the laws of the universe is a self organizing system. When it becomes organized we call it a mind. Throughout all of this is the self organizing effect of the vibrations in the 4th dimension. (fractals) In view of the butterfly effect the odds approach infinity that any two minds are alike, although it could be said that most brains are similar. That’s about as indeterminate as you can get.
Next up is society, which again, must conform to the laws of the universe (system). The individual performs the role of the neuron in the mind. The problem is that the individual mind is (usually) flawed and provides negative feedback resulting in a dysfunctional society which affects the individual. (mental disorders) It is pathological to be well-adjusted in a dysfunctional society. It is society which is the collective consciousness, and it is psychotic.
Psychosis is a loss of contact with reality, usually including false ideas about what is taking place or who one is (delusions) and seeing or hearing things that aren’t there (hallucinations) (or things that are there that they can’t see – Walt)
Interestingly, the web seems to be following these same laws of self-organization. We may indeed be approaching the Singularity.
I hope that clears things up

The Cork

I am afraid, in general terms, that our standard way of thinking cannot deal with quantum physics’ findings. meaning that trying to include the latter in a broader, philosophical theory is wrong by definition. In a Kantian way: our thought’s “a priori” prevent us from really “owning” quantum reality ontologically. It is my understanding that to really deal with quantum physics’ reality one has to leave behind any other prior “thought”, or “knowledge”, or “experience” of the universe and accept new coordinates. very counterintuitive ones.

Pirsig gives a more quantum, extended view of a balance between stasis and dynamis, “That’s the whole thing: to obtain static and Dynamic Quality simultaneously. If you don’t have the static patterns of scientific knowledge to build upon you’re back with the cave man. But if you don’t have the freedom to change those patterns you’re blocked from any further growth.” Page 210, Lila, Bantam hardbound, 1991 (first edition). The object orientated thought process

Stein propounds: “Thus, what is called determinism turns out to be analyticity or identity and what is called change appears to be inexplicable in classical physics; i.e., change appears to be only the existence of time.” Page 35, The Concept of Object as the Foundation of Physics, Peter Lang Pub., 1996.

Hmm! Another way to look at the problem. Granted, he’s speaking of programming but the concept of static and dynamic holds with the two cognitive minds concept of the ANN. The minds work (unless hijacked by ideology) exactly the same no matter what problem they are evaluating. If we compare the subconscious to the bottle, we have sealed ourselves in a bottle and somehow must reach outside this bottle to pull the cork. I think the gif is a very good analogy to what happens in a nervous breakdown, spiritual emergency, PTSD or whatever term one wishes to use to describe the back pressure in the subconscious resulting in an eruption. Standard psychology practice is to stick the cork back in the bottle (the patient must be turned back into an idiot), rather than relieving the pressure. This is the brain fart, a flaw in the wetware which allows the right mind to be shut down by hyper-males with nefarious intent, while also crippling creativity.

Thinking Backwards

<—-Awen-Inspiration

Triggering epiphany

Just what is thinking backwards? Essentially it’s applying top down logic to resolve an indeterminate problem and using bottom up logic to resolve a determinate problem. Or, it’s deciding on a conclusion then determining what evidence supports it. Or trying to get meta-physical about math. Broadly, it’s confusing cause and effect. (in a logical sense, not physical) I’m going to have to do some more thinking to figure out how to put this into words but I’ll give an example.

Most people would agree that we eat sugar because it tastes good. Well, they’d be wrong. sugar tastes good because we eat it. Sugar is an excellent source of energy, so our taste evolved to give pleasure when we eat sugar. I don’t know if this is because of imprinting or a basic logic flaw in the mind. I’ll have to do some more research.

Nirvana – (my definition) right brain thinking. Bottom up. A state of heightened awareness in which the right hemisphere is unfettered. Popularly, but incorrectly, referred to as whole brain, kaballah, yoga, constructionist, transcendental meditation, non-duality etc. these being just means to achieve nirvana.

Scientific Method – (my definition) left brain thinking. Top Down. A mistaken belief that all problems can be broken down into their component parts.

Sorry folks, the world (or the mind) doesn’t always work that way)

Truth – the appropriate logic applied to relevant facts.

“what if everyone quit believing and started living?” Dr. B

“Do not allow another to occupy rent free space in your mind.” – el Loco Gringo

Damn, isn’t that simple? Both of these statements express truth. More importantly, the same truth. Both of these statements explode into a reality of an indeterminate perception of the world.

Belief – inappropriate logic applied to irrelevant beliefs, such as;

Scientific method applied to soft sciences – anxiety, bi-polar manic depressive, sociology etc.

Yoga applied to math, physics, biology, chemistry etc.

“Nirvana is in every moment of our daily lives, but we don’t know and don’t understand that. So we forget that and look for it outside of ourselves.”

“So, if we’re thinking backwards from conclusions to evidence, where do we get the conclusions from?” – Cervantes

“When looking at the earth, there are no lines there, but we think as if there are. We forget that we put the lines there.” – Robert Anton

“Yoga is the science of the east, science is the yoga of the west” – James Miller

“The right hemisphere contains all of our perceptions, the left reaches into this totality and pulls out the relevance.” – Jill Bolte Taylor

The Circle Jerk

OK children, recess is over. The omniscient maharishi emeritus el Loco Gringo is gonna butt in and straighten you out then he’s gonna butt out and watch you go squishy again.

Because the universe is infinite and we aren’t we have to view it through tunnels. The data coming in through our senses is perceived and interpreted as a flock of geese. This data is evaluated through intrinsic/extrinsic processing (call it yin/yang, top down/bottom up, constructionist/reductionist, integration/differentiation if you will, doesn’t matter, the word is not the concept.) This is all inside the skull. Outside the skull is the wind which the yangers will vociferously proclaim has the property of blowing, with grandiose theories and math to “prove” that the wind, does in fact blow. The yinners will vehemently protest that the wind actually sucks and have elaborate theories and math to “prove” that the wind does in fact suck. The wind, for it’s part, doesn’t give a shit what words we use to describe it’s activities, it just keeps on doing what what we describe as blowing (or sucking if you prefer)

It’s all mental masturbation

you guys are having a circle jerk.

Good video by Vilayanur Ramachandran.

Summary:

In re previous letter you may discern I am in some distress. I see no way out of this dilemma. I will try to explain in terms you can understand. Forget what you know. You are incorrect. You’ll have to follow me on faith alone. I may need to teach you enough of how the mind works to pull me out of a funk. It will have to be by rote. should take about 10 minutes. Just trust me.

I want to talk about cognitive ability. In a normal (I have refrained from using that word, it is distressing, but true) intelligence is measured by the IQ test. Mine was measured at 161 I would guess yours in that ball park. But the IQ test ignores the part of the mind that makes us human. It assumes we are super chimps, the only difference being the number of neural cells. WRONG!!! I want to introduce the SQ test (SNAP quotient Synchronous Neural Access Potential). Lets transfer the results of the IQ test over to the new scale so as to accurately measure overall conative ability. While yours is still about 161 mine is 200m300? I don’t know, it’s off the scale. This has nothing to do with how the brain is made. Mine is no different than yours, other than the obvious. The problem is that a normal”s thinking patterns are flawed, meaning that a normal cannot reach his true potential. As long as I keep the logic paths short, I can communicate effectively. Anything more spins off into irrelevancies. There is a bug in the wetware. Whether this is inherent or introduced, I don’t know. I am probably the only person on earth capable of resolving this issue, I don’t even know if it’s possible. And I don’t have much time. And I can’t communicate this because the people who I try to communicate with have flawed logic patterns. In my case this potential has been realized, in yours it hasn’t. What a waste, we could have been to the stars 2 million years ago. It is tragic.

You think backwards

Perhaps intelligence is an evolutionary dead end and it is all for the best.

DrB-04

I have a very simple problem. Any attempts to explain it rapidly devolve into irrelevant complexities.

Short Form

The problem is: I live in a world in which reality doesn’t matter <stop>

How do I deal with it?<end>

Communication is futile

Long Form

Since people like to put things in little baskets so that they can make believe they know what’s going on, I’ll put the posed question on abstraction in little baskets. I’ll make 3 baskets. Call them A,B,C. Since I don’t know how many psychologists there are I’ll pick a number say 20,000. I’ll put them in basket A. If I’m going to be abstract about psychologists, they’re idiots. I’ll take another basket (a tiny, miniscule basket) and scoop out some of of these psychologists. One of these psychologists is Dr. B. This basket I will call non-idiots. (how many, I don’t know. 500 is probably wildly optimistic, I only know of 2) I will pick one marble. Teresa. This marble is indeterminate, unique, out of the 6 billion people there is only one. So I take this Teresa marble over to a football stadium sized basket (C) and give it a fling. The mere concept that you can be abstract about a singularity is absurd. It’s a conundrum, oxymoronic (heavy on the moron) in the extreme. A terminal logic fail. Even then all you could say is that she’s human. Probably female because of her name. That’s about it. And I don’t even know this hypothetical persons name. I couldn’t even find her. I couldn’t even find basket A, much less B. To think that one can reverse engineer the problems, aspirations, life history, etc. of a singularity goes past silly , past dumb, past stupid past idiot it is insanity. It’s like dividing a number by 0. Here be dragons. To hear a thought like that come out of the mouth of any person is disturbing. To hear it come from a person I like who is an expert in the mental sciences, intelligent, compassionate, sincere, educated, centered, someone I would rate in the top 5% in terms of smartness and more importantly, someone I like, scares the shit out of me. It is mind-boggling. And I have a high boggle threshold. Ayn Rand is right, there is indeed an “empty, ravening beast devouring the minds of humanity” That’s why I don’t like to deal with people. It is painful to see what people do to themselves.

It is distressing to know that someone I like has self-mutilated her mind.

In my terms you are not an idiot, you are not an asshole. You are locked. What is the English word for that? How do I explain to someone? The words don’t exist. English doesn’t work. Psycho babble is worse, it obfuscates truth in meaningless blabbity-blo. German maybe, Sanskrit, Aramaic, Hokien, Swahili? Math would work. The chaos equations would describe the phenomenom. Even then people would pontificate on the profundity of the math, and expand on it, and claim to understand it. But they would not. The math is not the concept, the math would only describe the concept, but that would be close enough. But the fickle finger of fate has destined that I was born too early and Mandelbrot too late. In like manner Ayn Rand.

It is interesting to note that Ayn Rand, with a typical female viewpoint, views herself as being locked in a room with the beast, while I, with a typical male viewpoint, view myself in a room surrounded by the abyss. Whichever name you choose, it is evil.

In answer to your query on how I kept my “spark”, As I mentioned I was educated by Benedictine Monks, an order dedicated to education. Catholics believe that religion doesn’t belong in education, it’s a seperate issue. Religion is between the individual and God. And a church is only a place for the individual to have a quiet place where he can commune with God. Probably half the students at Menard were non-catholic, with blacks, jews and others. As a result my education was secular. It was heavy on “lab” in chemistry we would spend half an hour talking about an experiment, then a half hour doing it. Instruction was held in the lab. In language (Latin for me), we would learn in the first half, then speak it in the second half. In the second semister Latin was taught in Latin. One thing that was hammered home was “WE CAN’T TEACH YOU, WE CAN ONLY SHOW YOU HOW TO LEARN”. It was up to us to learn. The student’s job was to learn, the instructors job was to present the data. Tests were mostly composition, The understood question on every test was “why”. An explanation of our answer was to be appended at the end of every paper. Many of the maxims I learned, I still use. For instance, on writing a paper “Tell them what you’re going to tell them, then tell them, then tell them what you told them”. and “A word means what it means, no more, no less”. We were free to explore the topic in any direction we chose. The more creative, the better. We chose the course (direction) for our education. Targeted (dis-ambiguated) words were encouraged “Lore” for instance, or heraldic. When a word has multiple meanings, I append the definition I intend. I still do it. I learned this in HS. I still proof my writing for ambiguation. This is where words fail me, there are no words in English that accurately describe the concepts in my head. I’ve included a of couple links on a modern Benedictine Monk, check his bonifides, it may supprise you. What a unique education, how at odds with public education. A new avenue of exploration. I shall contact Bro Hicks with a question on Benedictine Educational Philosophy.

Another reason is I’m confrontational by nature.  If someone tries to slap me down, I slap back.

I put my model for how the mind works on one page. WOW!!! Try explaining that in English or Psycho-babble.

Understand that psychology, is only a small part of my interest, which I suppose could be loosely described as man’s relationship with the universe (so far, it may change) I am at present dipping into the psychology basket to further my understanding. My model representation is to be considered only a tool I use to satisfy my particular needs, specifically, to understand the TMI Block and more generally why people put things in baskets making the data difficult to retrieve. The hole in the soul concept came from the spirituality basket. The taboo came from the zoology basket. The QD Fix came from the anthropology basket. The wolf came from the finance basket. The beast came from the ethics basket. Why must there be baskets when discussing human nature? None of these things make sense without considering the others. The illogical contortions you have to go through without considering all the data is monumental. All of the data is there, it’s just in different baskets.

Consider the following logic train;

Germans drink more beer than Americans or English and have less heart attacks

French drink more wine than Americans or English and have less heart attacks

Japanese drink more saki than Americans or English and have less heart attacks

Conclusion; Speaking English causes heart attacks

Saki, Wine and Beer are in different baskets and so not considered

It is insanity. It is self mutilation. This insanity exists in each of the soft baskets. It takes someone who is unlocked to skip across these baskets and pull out the relevant data. It takes someone who is centered to restore reason within each basket. Idiots and assholes just screw things up.

And we haven’t even discussed the commons, justice, education, parenting, values and others I haven’t thought of..

So far I’ve figured out the following aspects of the beast

Who=Everyone has it

What=Rejection of facts and logic

How=Algorithms field forbidden data

When=Neolithic earliest known instances

Where=Soft Sciences

Why=Taboo on pride

During the invasion of Iraq, Bill O’reilly asked a tank commander if there was anything the troops needed. After pondering for a minute the commander responded “mo’ enemy”. That’s what I got.

So many assholes, so little time

The Sub-Set Logic Fail

Confusing Reality

I always learn something when speaking to centered and it is always fascinating. This is the “awareness” I speak of. The quality of cognizance that an idiot lacks. An idiot is only capable of “shortcut” thinking. (top down) They have turned off their bullshit detector, which in a centered is continuously running in the background, monitoring and setting trigger points, (shortcuts) as necessary. And they play games with their rubber ruler. Nothing wrong with a rubber ruler or shortcut thinking as long as it is realized that that’s what it is. And this makes sense, Charlie Chimp can’t be standing around the paleolithic savannah with his head up his ass or he’ll be lion lunch.

This is the brain fart, the sub-set function generator built into the mind. This is a logic fail which an idiot cannot even conceive of, dismissing bottom up thinking as metaphysical bullshit or psychosis. I am amused and distressed by the attempts to find out why Einstein was smart. They do MRI scans, fractal analysis on the convolution patterns, compare volume of various structures to the norm. I could save them a bunch of money. Einstein was smart because he wasn’t an idiot. He was NORMAL. A person who was centered and interested in the way the universe worked. His mind hadn’t been hijacked. A mirror is required to bypass this built in sub-set function generator to set trigger points. One thing that you may not have been aware of. There is no TRUTH, but there are many truths. (there is more than one way to skin a cat) that in itself a truth, a viral meme, a broadcast shortcut. TRUTH precludes understanding, truth doesn’t.

Some of my shortcuts on the centered.

  1. They are not threatened by new ideas. They will “honestly” evaluate a new concept applying appropriate logic to relevant facts.
  2. They are cross disciplinary. IE a centered poet is fully capable of understanding the concept of a cosmic standing wave, and the importance of it without the need to go into physics or math.
  3. They have an influence far out of proportion to their numbers. They are the “cooler heads that prevail” in decision making.
  4. They have a sense of social responsibility. They understand that as “a rising tide raises all ships, a sinking ship drowns passengers and crew alike”. They can balance the needs of the individual with the needs of society.
  5. They are complete and unique, in and by themselves, without the need for approval or validation.
  6. They are capable of dealing with a concept on another’s terms. For instance, on reading your website, they can see the concept from your perspective.
  7. They always do the right thing. Even when no one is watching.

Essentially, they are non-idiots.

To clear up something I said earlier, when I was speaking of yoga being “mental masturbation” I was speaking of idiots. They are in a place that their brains are not wired to comprehend. It comes across as a psychedelic experience. They are incapable of seeing the “big picture”.

I am, however, uneasy with the word yoga, it sounds kinda effete. A “real” man does Zen.”

But of course it’s not the only modeling mechanism. That would be TRUTH, and TRUTH is dogma, an inflexible belief system TRUTH is the bane of physics, (and of man as a whole) Only an idiot believes in TRUTH. My sub-set modeling system is truth, specifically my truth. IE my “best answer to date” I have others which I apply as appropriate. They are equally as valid, and some of them would seem to be contradictory. What must be kept in mind in our attempt at understanding is the existence of the brain fart. In like manner I feel that belief in god is a perfectly valid belief system, as long as you don’t let religion get in the way. To me religion and god are mutually exclusive concepts. And maybe the big hoochie coochie IS god. Wouldn’t that be cool?

To summarize there are 3 main types of brain fart

TBF – Taoist Brain Fart, Inability to analyze

ABF – Aristotelian Brain Fart, Inability to generalize

RBF – Religious Brain Fart, Inability to spiritulize

There are others of course, Hipostatized belief systems that leave the victim, quite literally “half witted”, an idiot. Stupid, intelligent perhaps, but stupid nonetheless.

“GOD transcends religion, religion doesn’t transcend GOD” – el Loco Gringo

“Occidentals seek insight, orientals seek outsight” – el Loco Gringo

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, design a building, conn a ship, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve an equation, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. “ – Robert Heinlein (Specialization is for idiots.)

I have another website called Atenolol Dreams which explores the workings of the right mind via lucid dreaming. In one dream I am approached by Dr. ANN, what I call my overseer. I said “I think therefore I am” Descartes” She replied “No, I think therefore you are” Hmmm!

This is an excellent paper I got from Mali Musings which has a non inconsitant take on the brain fart.

Why Western Christianity Failed. The speaker was Dr. Jim Wilder from Shepherd’s House in California.

– The first part was about a 300 year old philosophy that heavily influenced Western Theology.
– The second part looked at how medieval psychology influences us until today.
– And the third part explained how we ended up with a false dichotomy because of these two influences.

Why can no one smell the brain fart?

It’s stinking up the cranium
