When considering what is happening in the mind, it is necessary to consider everything that is happening to the mind which is everything. I have tried to organize this into some kind of order. In general, start with overview> prologue and keep hitting the next after going through the links at the bottom of the page, in order. Things don’t fit neatly into baskets, like the scientific method would have you believe. Red links are external, close window to return. Blue links are internal, hit back arrow to return.

This link is essential to understanding what is going on inside the skull. Basically the brain is a self programming amorphous mass of neurons. (at least a rat brain)

This is as close to a summary as I’m going to get. The major premise of this paper is; “The mind does not need to be “enhanced” so much as be un-crippled and returned to it’s natural state”. The minor premise is; “the mind can be “un-locked” from the cage imposed by society, ideology, religion, education, upbringing etc”. The conclusion is; “We can become who we are supposed to be and not who someone else wants us to be”. The paper is presented in random order (that is. after all, the way we “think”) If the topic seems to be drivel, or too complex, just skip it for the moment. (you’ll be back). many of the topics are only cursorily mentioned, (They’ve been so done). TM, self-help, spirituality, whole brain, synergy are only pieces of the puzzle.

The present psychological view of the mind is one of the chief impediments to understanding the mind. Discard it in it’s entirety. It is Paleolithic in nature. Almost everything in this paper is counter-intuitive and un-scientific. Sorry, the scientific method does not work on an indeterminate problem. Applying the scientific method to an indeterminate problem yields the nonsense of psychology. Once you can see the blue sky, turn your thoughts inward and ponder your own thought processes.

Think of it as a sentient computer, blind, deaf, dumb lacking in any input except the data received through me. In a sense I am it’s avatar. It’s way of dealing with the world. It doesn’t really understand the world. The only purpose it has is for me to survive. It could care less if an asteroid impacts the earth tomorrow and destroys humanity. It only cares about me. It cares about emotions, feelings, desires, wants, aspirations, beauty, etc. only because I do, it is how I deal with the world. To the ANN these are abstract concepts. They are only symbols.

An un-locked mind does not automatically reject data. I view the majority of mankind as being mentally disabled. Not unintelligent, but crippled on two levels, un-centered (80%?) and locked (99%) I don’t think an un-centered person could pull off a QD Fix. Their emotions are artificial, not having a center to draw on. A centered person should be able to wing it. If you feel something coming, let er rip. As an aside, I’ve never seen a centered person who was malevolent. They would have to give up their center to become an asshole. I don’t think it’s possible anyone could want that. It would be an emotional suicide. You won’t see any rich centered people. They would rather be humble than assholes. That’s the only real choice there is in life.

OK children, we now get down to the real nitty gritty. How does the mind really work? We will disregard the physical aspects and concentrate only on the logical aspects of operation. Time to quit talking baby talk and psycho babble.

The protohuman brain consists of only a few logical determinations. Sensory I/O, Interface, the ANN and it’s associated defense mechanisms. Auxiliary support and control mechanisms are outside the our direct purview. The sensory I/O consists of the sight, sound, smell, proprioceptor input, (pain, location, heat, cold etc). The interface is that part of the mind which transforms input from the sensory I/O into a form usable by the defense mechanisms. (turns photons into a spectrum of intensity and color, turns vibrations in the air into sound. The output of the sensory I/O is not reality but a representation of reality. The ANN is the Allocated Neural Network, dedicated to the maintenance and modification of the defense mechanisms, and excluding that part of the mind devoted to autonomic responses. Estimate 200-300 cc of brain mass. This is the I, the me/not me, the seat of consciousness. It thinks real time. Time is the missing element in the understanding of the mind, that element ignored by the various ‘ists. Getting the timing right is crucial to the survival of this critter. It takes time to think. If the timing is too short the defense mechanism will be relatively unsophisticated. If too long, it will be spending too much time. If Charlie Chimp is standing around the Savannah with his head up his butt, thinking about doing the ugly bump with Poly Protohuman, and his response to a threat is not fast enough, or sophisticated enough, he won’t be doing Poly tonight and we won’t have a Stanford Dept of Psychology for el Loco Gringo to make fun of., and that would make him very sad. So an optimal time evolved. about 1/2 second. Using his newly evolved ability to use tools and implements, Charlie Chimp (Alpha Male) could now beat the subservient males about the head and shoulders with a stick guaranteeing his primacy in the poon tang receiving department and reinforcing the taboo.

There is a time imposed limit on the number of neurons that this type of mind can utilize.

Sometime between 50,000 and 2,900,000 years ago the greatest evolutionary leap occurred since the first few neurons clumped together. Wet ware. This miracle allowed the thinking to be done off line and the resultant changes implemented. Indexing allowed for the possibility of not accessing the data directly, but indirectly. ie with the reprogram able wet ware it is necessary only to know the location of the data, not the data itself. This mind is capable of handling many more neurons without compromising the timing constraints.

People think backwards. We are not super-chimps. it’s a whole new ball game.

Introducing the unANN, the unAllocated Neural Network, a free form mass of neurons (2000cc) that can be programmed for specific functions and used as a storage area that can be accessed via indexing by the ANN. It is now possible for the defense mechanisms to become much more sophisticated. They are so much more sophisticated that a new word is needed. Algorithm.

“What would Charlie do?” – el Loco Gringo

Introducing the metaphorical Charlie Chimp. He is on the cusp of becoming human, living in a world full of new and dangerous things. Having recently abandoned his arboreal existence, he now wanders the savannas of Africa with his mate Polly Protohuman. The behavior patterns he learned in the jungle no longer are effective on the open savanna. “A-hah! He says, I’ll evolve an ANN that can control algorithms. That way I’ll be able to deal with these new threats in a timely manner”. It is necessary to consider the anthropological origins of our behavior to understand why we behave as we do. After all, it is one thing to chuck rocks across a stream at a rival clan, it is quite another to chuck ICBMs across an ocean at a rival clan. Working the logic both ways

The basic premise (my truth) is that we have two cognitive minds which give us two perspectives on the world. We project these perspectives onto whatever we perceive and see giving us the illusion that the world is of a dual nature. These two perspectives are not two sides of the same coin but the same side of the same coin, the other side being reality. Yin IS the right mind’s perspective. Yang IS the left minds perspective.

Consider Chinese medicine in which the object is to balance the Qi to the Yin and the Yang. Another aspect of the difference between Oriental and Western medicine can be described as Oriental treats the Yang and Western treats the Yin. Everything in the universe can be described in terms of Yin or Yang. This is one of the underlying philosophies of Oriental Medicine. Yin is the feminine qualities in the universe, Yang is the masculine qualities.

Consider sight, this right side of this graphic illustrates what is happening in the right mind, (perception) an ever present “now”. The left side illustrates what is happening in the left mind, an interpretation which discards the “now” and adds time and color so as to better “make sense of” motion. Neither of these perspectives is reality but only a perception and interpretation of reality.

Consider society. In western society we have the hipostatized belief in the state and it’s institutions, ignoring the self as constitute part of the whole. In eastern society there is a hipostatized belief in the self, ignoring the whole. It would seem that a definition of civilization would be the ability of the hyper-males to shut down one of the minds, creating a permanent “slave” class. (idiots). In the west is the aristotelean brain fart, in the east the taoist brain fart. Acculturation IS indocrination. Now it is education in earlier times it was religion.

Consider world view, the lion and the lamb exist within all of us, and one or the other must be shut down by the hyper-males to maintain control, and keep primacy in the banana and poon-tang receiving departments. Either top down or bottom up thinking must be shut down, so as to imprint a cultural view in which a hipostatized belief system can replace one or the other mind’s interpretation of reality. While we are part of the state, the state is the summation of us, maintaining it’s illusory reality.

Consider calculus. Integral calculus IS bottom up thinking as applied to euclidean geometry. Differential calculus IS top down thinking as applied to euclidean geometry. BUT euclidean geometry ain’t real, but only an interpretation of a perception of reality which also ain’t real. This is why Milo wolf was able to come to a better understanding of the nature of the universe, he used algebra, eschewing calculus. Or consider Ted Lumley’s question “is space making electrons or are electrons making space” YES!!! Space IS the summation of electrons. The point of this rambling incoherent dissertation is that the logic must be worked both ways. Consider the image, the ocean causes the waves, BUT the waves constitute the ocean. The waves and the ocean are only two perspectives of the sea, BOTH entirely inside the skull. Without the waves, the ocean cannot exist. Without the ocean the waves cannot exist. non-dualism

i was going to suggest an ‘epilogue’ instead of going back to the beginning and telling the reader where i was going to end up. sherlock holmes does many strange things in the course of his inquiry that don’t make sense until the viewer gets to see the ‘missing connections’, as in the epilogue where the detective brings everyone together and then reveals ‘who the culprit is’.

there would be no point in sherlock stating his hypothesis upfront. he would do better to invent some inquiry that would be ‘telling’ so as to validate his hypothesis without ever stating it, then each of the anecdotes that support the still unseen hypothesis build support for it, … support that would nto be there if the participants had not curiously observed these apparent ‘diversions’.

By pointing out the disjunct in the pattern, the answer “snapped” into place. That’s actually where I got the word SNAP, a person with SNAP (a Nexialist) can correlate many seemingly unrelated patterns to discern an overall rule. (shortcut) Then this “odd” pattern can be examined to find out why. THIS is what is missing in western civilization. The lack of SNAP IS the dog that didn’t bark. Something that should be there but isn’t . This is why people are dumb. THIS is the hurdle you must overcome in communication.

The algorithms (outputs) of the left mind and the right mind are compared, and if they disagree the “Does Not Compare” detector will (should) go off. This is what is not happening. This is the dog that doesn’t bark. This is the curious incident in the night. This lack of “does not compute” defines an idiot. The wires to this alarm have been cut by education.

I am painting with a broad brush here. So as not to bloat the concepts, I will omit the exceptions, special cases and disclaimers. This is fuzzy logic (bottom up thinking) Which can be “The best answer to date” (level 1), “This idea seems to work for the moment” (level 2) or the less definitive “Could be” (Level 3)

Fuzzy logic is a form of multi-valued logic derived from fuzzy set theory to deal with reasoning that is approximate rather than precise. In contrast with “crisp logic”, where binary sets have binary logic, the fuzzy logic variables may have a membership value of not only 0 or 1 – that is, the degree of truth of a statement can range between 0 and 1 and is not constrained to the two truth values of classicpropositional logic. Oh Really!, you think so huh?

In fact what is accepted as truth in top down thinking is only Level 1 as determined by bottom up thinking. It is NEVER complete, and could be entirely wrong if hijacked by religion, education or other societal programming. If this societal programming occurs during the critical period of growth (birth-age 7 or puberty) it can become imprinting, a PERMANENT inability of the mind to accept new concepts. A person can know, but not understand a concept that does not fit into this framework. They become idiots (not used as a pejorative but as a clinical term, I am, after all, striving to be professional) The implications of this imprinting are profound. Bottom up thinking is regarded as psychotic by mental health and meta-physical bullshit by the general population. Not only is creativity crushed by this imprinting but it has resulted in a society composed of zombies (stupid people, doing stupid things for stupid reasons) living a meaningless existence in an ant warren. An example of this is physics, in which the nature of the universe being of a wave nature is known but not understood. To date I am aware of a dozen people who understand, and half of them are dead.

I recently became interested in the aboriginal framework of reasoning. I have heard is described as circular reasoning.

Circular reasoning is an attempt to support a statement by simply repeating the statement in different or stronger terms. In this fallacy, the reason given is nothing more than a restatement of the conclusion that poses as the reason for the conclusion.

I don’t see it that way, I see it as “wheels within wheels” and not even “what goes around comes around” but “what goes around comes around goes around etc”. For instance a 260 day calendar would seem to make no sense unless one considers that the gestation period is 260 days. Thus if a woman conceived on Tzolkin 10 she could expect the birth on Tzolkin 10, As this was synchronized with the Haab (365 day calendar) no calculation was needed. This is the beginning. This is where the understanding of the mind can be found. This is a functional model of the neuron. I prefer to leave the how of the neuron to the neurologists. I prefer to leave psychology to the idiots. I will include links for those who are interested in such things.

Kevin warwick, University of Reading, UK has cultured 300,000 rat brain cells into an amorphous mass of neurons and connected wires. The neurons immediately began connecting and communicating. (or went forth and multiplied if you want to get metaphysical) Why, you may ask? Because that’s what neurons do. The neuron has evolved to have the properties of connecting and communicating to form decision tree networks. the epiphany for me, going off like a flare over the field of battle, was the realization of what the robot is doing. Your first thought is that it is trying to avoid the walls. Nope. It is going forth and multiplying. It is seeking more neurons to connect and communicate with. Why? Becaurse that’s what neurons do. This experiment illustrates the most significant discovery in the history of man. Essentially the decision tree is giving the output “nope that’s not a neuron, change direction”. This decision tree is what I will later call an algorithm.

The elusive goal of all physical sciences since Einsteins Theories exploded upon the scientific community. This goal being to tie in gravity with the strong force, weak force and electromagnetic force.

This paper will show the time component of the equations to be false. It will also demonstrate the basis for nirvana and man’s connectedness with the universe.

It will be demonstrated that the mind is doing the equivalent of a inverse Fourier transform so as to present sensory input into a form usable by the mind.

The Fourier, Laplace and other transforms are a series of formulae used to convert real data (time domain) into an imaginary domain (frequency), obtain the answer, and convert it back into the time domain. Obtain the above applet here> Fourier

Consider a triangular wave. It would be virtually impossible to tease out the component frequencies, indeed there may be many possibilities. However, the mere act of converting this into the frequency domain, shows the component frequencies (middle graph). The answer just is. The answer is then converted back into the time domain. Voila

However the concept is backwards, as people are prone to think backwards. Time is an artifact, the same as sound or any other sensory input. IE Sound exists only in our minds, sound is merely our minds way of making sense of vibrations in the 20 to 20000 Hz range. The same with vision where photons impacting the cones and rods are spread out into a spectrum of frequencies so our minds can make sense of it. Sight and sound then are merely interpretations of reality. It follows logically that time, if an artifact, would be handled in the same manner. But what then is time an interpretation of? Time is the minds way of making sense of motion, IE vector + distance, IE frequency domain. It is a shadow of reality. That is why there is more information in the frequency domain. It is reality.

Consider E=MC^2. The C component is the speed of light. Speed = Time/distance. Since time is an artifact the valid C should be vector/distance. Thus the space/time continuum becomes the space/vector continuum, (or more accurately, simply the continuum). Thus it can be argued that distance is also an artifact. IE Our mind’s way of making sense of the frequency domain that is reality.

As to string theory, m theory, the dodecahedron, parallel universes etc., These are merely clumsy attempts at trying to fit reality into an artificial way of thinking. (The scientific method)

So it seems the right hemisphere operates in the frequency domain and the left hemisphere operates in the time domain (artificial). This then is the connectedness to the universe. Bottom up thinking.

The purpose of this paper is to propose a working model of the mind that accommodates both top down thinking (scientific method) and bottom up thinking (yoga) There will be no citations or references, this model being based entirely upon empirical reasoning and observation.

Man has a unique brain, we have two cognitive minds, independent yet interconnected, and synchronous in nature.

The left mind uses top down thinking in a binary network. IE true/false. This is the Aristotelian view of the world we are all familiar with. This is what distinguishes us from animals. It interprets the input of the right mind into terms that can be quantified and made more useful. (sound, time, color etc.) It is the “individuation”. It is dominant. It operates in the time domain.

The right mind uses bottom up thinking in a weighted Boolean network. Possible results can be true/false/both/neither modulated by aggregate or accumulate input. This is the way an animal thinks. There is only now. This is the “connectedness”. This is the source of insight, creativity, “thinking outside the box”. It is sub-dominant. It operates in the frequency domain.

Monitoring and regulating the synchronicity is the ANN (allocated neural network), wetware dedicated to comparing the results of the calculations performed by the left and right minds and flagging discrepancies by setting trigger points on the algorithms, a decision tree on each mind. This algorithm is what a psychologist would call a personality.

Thus we have 3 ways of dealing with the world, dominant (left mind, skeptical) sub-dominate (right mind, receptive) and combined (“we’ll see”). This is no more complicated than putting on your doctor hat when you go to work, your wife/husband hat when at home, and your “we’ll see” hat in public.

The remainder of the brain is the unANN dedicated to memory, dreaming, collating etc. Yoga (see footnote 1) is a framework that is useful for accessing this area. Rather like a neuron trellis. It can bypass the constraints imposed by the left mind to directly access all experience, the universe, as perceived by the individual. This is nirvana.

Any thinking about the mind must start with the neuron. Simply put, the brain is a self programming amorphous mass of neurons. It is in the nature of the neuron to seek out, connect and communicate. Thus each mind is unique, as indeterminate as it is possible to get.

Psychologists are trapped into trying to describe an indeterminate problem with logic suitable only for a determinate problem.

I use the term yoga as a generic term for various meditative techniques used to access the right hemisphere directly.

From the beginning of life to the paleolithic, there was only one way for an organism to experience the universe. That was in the frequency domain. In the frequency domain there is no color, there is no time, there is no sound. There is only vibrations and there is only now. These vibrations are rotational in nature with a beat of 8 and are negentropic. Howsoever, the hominid line developed/evolved/had created (whatever) a separate mind, (left hemisphere) separated from but interconnected and synergistic with the original mind. HUMANS HAVE TWO COGNITIVE MINDS. One operating in the frequency domain (right), the second using a reduced set of the frequency domain which we call the time domain (left). This reduced set gave humans an evolutionary edge over animals, But we have lost the ability to experience the world in the frequency domain, making it a bitch to understand. Thus we are left with a quantification of an interpretation of a perception. No wonder it’s a bitch, we’re measuring shadows with a rubber ruler. In other words, it ain’t real.

The concept of “two cognitative minds” seems to turn some people off, so I’ll try another analogy. How ’bout a dual core computer. One chip is programmed with a boolean network, the other with a binary network. Each performs different logical operations on the same input. The perception is interpreted with two logic trees and compared. This comparison yields an answer. Thus what appeared to be a convoluted logic tree turns out to be two chips, using two logic patterns performing very simple calculations, (to the individual chip) to yield a synergistic answer that seems akin to magic from the outside. (Yeah, I know two sentient computer chips sounds suspiciously like two cognitive minds. Can’t be helped. the further one gets from reality, the less reality there is.) The difficulty lies in being able to wrap your head around the dual nature of the mind(s). Once that is accepted, it really is just that simple.
